Where innovation meets application
From 5 to 7 February, Berlin was the place to be for the global fruit sector. Orchard of the Future was there to join forces with partners such as NXTGEN Hightech Handsfree Agrifood and The Next Fruit 4.0, showcasing how innovation, technology and research contribute to a more sustainable and future-proof sector.
Meaningful international encounters
New international connections, particularly from the United States, sparked valuable conversations on sustainable cultivation methods and more efficient distribution. Around the visit of an American delegation to the Netherlands, several meetings were organised, including a dinner and networking reception with representatives from OOTF, NXTGEN Hightech and The Next Fruit 4.0. Through these efforts, Orchard of the Future actively connects with broader Dutch clusters and ecosystems, enhancing the value of the network and creating opportunities for international collaboration on multiple levels.

Technology in action on the exhibition floor
The power of technology was clearly on display. Robotics, data-driven cultivation and automation are no longer future visions but proven solutions. Conversations during the event showed how these technologies are already making a difference, especially when research and business connect.
Knowledge exchange across the sector
Fruit Logistica offered ample opportunities for knowledge sharing within the international fruit sector. While OOTF did not organise its own content sessions during the event, our presence at the fair proved valuable for staying up to date with developments and staying connected to partners. For members of the OOTF network, trade shows like this also provide a great opportunity to exchange experiences informally and explore new collaborations.
OOTF as a connector across people, knowledge and opportunity
The connections and insights shared at Fruit Logistica once again highlighted the value of cross-sector collaboration. Orchard of the Future brings growers, tech innovators and researchers together, not only to accelerate progress, but to ensure it can be applied internationally. Together, we’re building a fruit sector where innovation is not the end goal, but a shared force for future resilience.
